A richly layered visualization of a landmark residential project rooted in landscape, materiality and community.

The Angophora is a large-scale residential development in the heart of Chatswood, designed by Carter Williamson Architects in collaboration with Land and Form Studios. The project comprises two towers, rising 33 and 23 storeys respectively, set above a robust brick podium that grounds the architecture in the surrounding heritage context. Organised around a mature angophora tree, the development takes its name from this natural centrepiece and integrates landscape and built form in a way that promotes sustainability, community, and connection to place.
The scheme emphasises contextual sensitivity and ecological thinking, responding to Chatswood’s dual identity as a high-density commercial centre and a leafy residential precinct. A series of landscaped communal terraces and public spaces are designed to enhance both amenity and biodiversity, while the podium establishes an active street edge with fine-grain detail and a human scale.

Mogamma was commissioned during the State Significant Development Application (SSDA) phase to develop a series of visualisations that would communicate the project’s architectural and landscape ambitions.
Our focus was on producing images that went beyond technical representation, instead crafting a clear and evocative story about how the spaces might feel and perform. Working closely with the design team, we developed a visual strategy that highlighted the warmth and tactility of the material palette, the integration of landscape as both boundary and connective tissue, and the relationship between light, shadow and built form. The resulting imagery was grounded in human experience, presenting The Angophora as a place designed not only for density, but for community, ecology and everyday life.

The final suite of renders formed part of the project’s submission to the NSW Department of Planning, playing a key role in communicating the design’s complexity, sensitivity, and long-term value. The images helped articulate how the architecture responds to the site’s conditions and opportunities—from massing that improves solar access and natural ventilation, to ground-plane elements that support walkability, activation, and public engagement.
Through collaboration with Carter Williamson and Land and Form Studios, the visualizations contribute to a larger narrative: one that positions The Angophora not just as a residential development, but as a generous, place-based response to living in the city.
